Hello, my name is Sandra, I have over 25 years of credentialed teaching experience covering grades k-12. I am a retired school administrator, I have a passion for teaching.
I earned a BA in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Cal State University, San Bernardino. I received my teaching credential from the University of Redlands, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. While teaching I earned my SDAIE certificate (Specially designed academic instruction in English) which helps in tutoring students, who are English Language Learners. I earned a certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders and a preliminary Special Education credential from Azusa Pacific University.
I have teaching and tutoring experience with students who have been identified with learning difficulties including ADHD/ADD and dyslexia.
As a former Language Arts teacher, I help students improve their reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, and writing skills. In every tutoring session, I incorporate study skills, how and what to study, as well as test-taking strategies. I teach test prep skills and have experience with the CBEST/ CSET, and AP US History, AP World History, AP English, and ACT\SAT test.
I tailor all tutoring sessions to the student’s needs, focusing on their learning style. I frequently use visuals to help the student understand the concept or skill being taught. The lessons are geared toward maximizing students’ strengths while building academic skills.
As a former elementary/middle school principal I received continual training and resources to help all students achieve academic success.

My hours are flexible. I am available for online tutoring, from 8 am to 7 pm PST Monday through Friday, and Sunday hours are 8 am to 6 pm.
