Hello, my name is Sandra, I have over 25 years of credentialed teaching experience covering grades k-12. I am a retired school administrator, I have a passion for teaching.
I earned a BA in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Cal State University, San Bernardino. I received my teaching credential from the University of Redlands, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. While teaching I earned my SDAIE certificate (Specially designed academic instruction in English) which helps in tutoring students, who are English Language Learners. I earned a certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders and a preliminary Special Education credential from Azusa Pacific University.
I have both teaching and tutoring experience with students that have been identified with learning difficulties including ADHD/ADD and dyslexia.
As a former Language Arts teacher, I help students improve their reading comprehension, spelling, grammar and writing skills. In every tutoring session, I incorporate study skills, how and what to study, as well as test-taking strategies. I teach test prep skills and have experience with the CBEST/ CSET and AP US History, AP World History, AP English and ACT\SAT test.
I tailor all tutoring sessions to the student’s needs, focusing on their individual learning style. I frequently use manipulatives and visuals to help the student understand the concept or skill being taught. The lessons are geared to maximizing student’s strengths while building academic skills.
As a former elementary/middle school principal I received continual training and resources to help all students achieve academic success.

My hours are flexible. I am available for online tutoring, from 8 am to 9 pm PST Monday through Friday and weekend hours are 3 pm to 7 pm.

Besides one-on-one tutoring, I continue to substitute teach at the local elementary school.

Sandie pushes on forward to focus on the future not past scores.

Sandie helped me understand how to read test guide of Multiple Subjects test, and create a plan to tackle the information. In addition, a list of resourceful links to work on to help my studying.

Engaging, motivating tutor

We needed to find someone to help my son (freshman in highschool) with Lit&Comp and after looking at a couple of profiles and talking to Sandie he decided to work with her. He has only had a couple of sessions so it's too early to determine the success but my son enjoys working with her which is a good start.
