Hello, my name is Sandra, I have over 25 years of credentialed teaching experience covering grades k-12. I am a retired school administrator, I have a passion for teaching.
I have a BA in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Cal State University, San Bernardino. I received my teaching credential from the University of Redlands, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. While teaching I earned my SDAIE certificate (Specially designed academic instruction in English) which helps tutoring English Language Learners. I went back to school to acquire a certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders and a preliminary Special Education credential.
I have both teaching and tutoring experience with students that have been identified with learning difficulties including ADHD/ADD and dyslexia.
As a former Language Arts teacher, I help students improve their reading comprehension, spelling, grammar and writing skills. In every tutoring session I incorporate study skills, how and what to study, as well as test taking strategies.
I also teach test prep skills and have experience with the CBEST/ CSET and GED.
I tailor all tutoring sessions to the student’s needs, focusing on their individual learning style. I frequently use manipulatives and visuals to help the student understand the concept or skill being taught. The lessons are geared to maximizing student’s strengths while building academic skills. As a former elementary / middle school principal I received continual training and resources to help all students achieve academic success.

My hours are flexible. I am available weekday afternoons and evenings in the Beaumont, Redlands, Yucaipa, and Highland area. I am also available for online tutoring, both late at night and early mornings.

Besides one -on-one tutoring, I continue to substitute teach at the local elementary school. I also give docent tours for a historical landmark in the area.
