Hello! I am a third-year medical student at Ross University School of Medicine with a strong academic background in biology and the basic medical sciences. I hold an Associate’s degree in Biology and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with an emphasis in Human Biology. During my undergraduate years, I provided one-on-one tutoring to approximately 15 college students, generally ranging from about 20–30 years old, primarily in biology and related coursework. During my first and second years of medical school, I continued tutoring students in physiology and pathology, gaining additional experience explaining complex medical concepts and adapting my teaching style to individual students.
I have also recently completed the same examinations that many of my students are preparing for. I successfully passed the Comprehensive Basic Science Examination (CBSSE/COMP) with a score of 77% and subsequently passed USMLE Step 1. Preparing for these exams gave me extensive experience working through large amounts of material, identifying weaknesses, practicing with USMLE-style questions, and learning how to approach unfamiliar clinical scenarios. My own preparation involved a great deal of trial and error in determining which study techniques, resources, and review strategies were actually effective, and that experience has become an important part of how I approach tutoring.
My goal as a tutor is to help students understand the material rather than simply memorize facts. I particularly enjoy breaking down difficult physiology, pathology, and basic science concepts into simpler pieces, explaining the reasoning behind them, and then helping students apply those concepts to practice questions. In one-on-one sessions, I tailor my approach to the student's current level of understanding and focus on identifying the reason behind missed questions—whether it is a knowledge gap, difficulty connecting concepts, or trouble applying information.
