I am currently a senior Chemical Engineering honors student at California Baptist University, where I have a focus on physics, thermodynamics, calculus, and advanced chemistry. My academic background has provided me with a deep understanding of the STEM subjects I tutor, but my true passion lies in bridging the gap between complex theory and practical application. Whether I am working through a multi-step calculus derivation or explaining the fundamentals of chemical reactions, my goal is to never rely on memorization, but to fully understand the background necessary to apply the knowledge. I strive to help students develop a conceptual "road map" so they can confidently tackle new problems independently.
My teaching experience is grounded in both group and individual settings. For the past two semesters, I have served as a Physics Lab Teaching Assistant, where I independently lead weekly laboratory sessions. In this role, I am responsible for translating abstract physical laws into hands-on experiments for college students, ensuring they understand the "why" behind the data they collect. I also work as a physics tutor in both open group forums and one-on-one sessions. This variety has taught me how to pivot my communication style to meet a student’s specific needs, whether they are a high schooler seeing a concept for the first time or a fellow college student preparing for a final exam.
I am eager to work with students ranging from the high school to college level who are motivated to master challenging material. I believe that anyone can succeed in STEM with the right framework and a bit of persistence. By utilizing my background in engineering and my experience in academic instruction, I aim to provide a supportive and highly effective learning environment that helps students reach their full potential.
