As a third-year medical student at WesternU COMP and a UC Santa Cruz dean's list graduate (Biology, 2022, GPA 3.74), I have over five years of tutoring experience in science and math. I scored 511 on the MCAT and have a strong academic background that allows me to break down complex subjects in a way that is clear, engaging, and effective. My experience spans K-6, high school (AP/Common Core), and undergraduate-level tutoring, helping students master challenging material and build confidence in their abilities.
I specialize in math up to pre-calculus and sciences up to college-level chemistry and biology. As a Learning Support Services tutor at UC Santa Cruz for four years, I provided one-on-one and small group tutoring (up to four students) in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Genetics. Additionally, I tutored for two years with Grade Potential Tutoring, working with students in AP Chemistry, AP Biology, Integrated Math 2, and K-12 math. I also served as an instructor at Elite Educational Institute in San Ramon, where I taught SAT Math, AP Chemistry, and AP Biology.
I just recently passed USMLE Step 1 and COMLEX Level 1, so I am also available to support pre-med and medical students with board exam preparation, study strategies, and high-yield resource selection.
My teaching philosophy focuses on systematic content review, followed by reinforcement through practice problems and quizzing. I tailor my approach to each student's learning style, encouraging them to bring practice materials from their instructor so we can apply what they've learned. I then provide additional problem sets to ensure ample repetition and mastery. This method helped me excel in the sciences, and I strive to help my students gain the same confidence.
Beyond subject-specific tutoring, I offer mentorship for college and medical school applications, guiding students through personal statements, interview preparation, and the admissions process.
