I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from the University of California, San Francisco, with an emphasis in Pharmaceutical Health Policy and Management. I also hold a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing. I am a licensed California pharmacist and Advanced Practice Pharmacist with more than 15 years of professional experience spanning community pharmacy, clinical pharmacy, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the pharmaceutical industry. My areas of expertise include pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, pharmacy calculations, medication safety, drug interactions, patient counseling, and evidence-based medication use.
My teaching and tutoring experience includes providing one-on-one online tutoring through Tutor.com and participating in teaching activities at the UCSF School of Pharmacy during my postgraduate pharmacy training. In the pharmaceutical industry, I also developed and delivered clinical and product education for healthcare professionals, including training more than 300 physicians. Throughout my pharmacy career, I have regularly educated patients, pharmacy staff, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals on medications, dosing, adverse effects, drug interactions, and appropriate medication use.
My teaching approach is patient, practical, and individualized. I break complex scientific and pharmacological concepts into manageable steps, identify where a learner is having difficulty, and adapt my explanations to the learner's level of understanding. I especially enjoy helping college, graduate, and professional students understand pharmacology and pharmacy concepts by connecting foundational science with real-world clinical examples.
