Bio

Sherna holds a Master of Arts in Arts and Humanities Aesthetic Studies from University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, TX; and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance, as well as in Music Education from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. She is certified to teach K-12. She is a full member of The National Association of Teachers Singing and maintains a private music studio. Sherna also has an extensive performance career and is currently the leader of The Sherna Armstrong Band....

Sherna tutors students of all ages in the core subjects, test prep, music, and organizational skills. She has taught at the high school level as a choral director and at the collegiate level as a Professor of Voice, English, and Humanities. She has served as: a College Board AP Reader for English Literature; a member of the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA); a Federal Women’s Program Manager; a member of the Golden Key Honor Society; President of Texas College Student Section of Texas Music Educators Association; a Quality Circle leader; a radio announcer for KNON 90.9 FM Community Radio Station, Dallas, Texas; and a Vogel Alcove Board Member.

Sherna has over 20 years of teaching experience. Whether she teaches in a group setting or one-on-one, she gives all of her students an equal opportunity to learn. She breaks down the material to their level and adjusts her teaching so students can learn the skills and knowledge that they need to succeed and make a concrete difference in their lives.
