*I currently have limited availability, typically two new student openings per week.*

I’m a published writer and former instructor at top international boarding and prep schools, where I taught literature, writing, and philosophy to high-achieving students from around the world. I hold a master’s in Comparative Literature from the University of Bologna, the oldest university in the Western world and top humanities school in Italy, and a BA in Religious Studies from Westmont.

Over the past decade, I’ve guided both high school students preparing for university and adult professionals refining their public communication. My approach combines academic precision with a creative framework, my goal being to help clients write and speak with clarity, nuance, confidence, and intercultural awareness.

I specialize in advanced writing and humanities instruction, college and graduate-level essays, and cross-cultural communication coaching. Many of my students have gone on to succeed at top universities and in international careers or have been top executives and CEOs looking to develop their skills.

I work best with motivated learners who want to master the craft of writing and critical thinking at a high level. My most natural talents are helping someone articulate what they think in writing, finding the real beginning of an essay or story, and refining professional communication so that it becomes nuanced and culturally effective.

ACT Reading

ACT Reading

I ran a extracurricular high school prep class that prepared students for the ACT English section. We focus on reading strategies along with quick shortcuts to identifying the wrong answer choices so one can eliminate quickly and move on. I always add small tips to my curriculum, like what to eat before the test, how to re-focus yourself during the test, and other personal tips.
Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I have been a Biblical Studies major for two years now; first at Gordon College, and now at Westmont College. I took classes such as Old Testament, New Testament, Intro to Biblical Studies, Geography of the Bible, and Missiology. I went to Israel on a three week seminar to learn about the geography of the Bible. I also led a Bible study with five teenage girls in the summer of 2012.
College Counseling

College Counseling

Over the past several years, I’ve helped dozens of students write the essays that got them into the colleges of their dreams. These essays can be especially challenging for even the best writers: the stakes are high, and the essays demand writing skills that are different from those taught in most English classes. Throughout my tutoring career, I have helped numerous clients refine and polish academic papers, college essays, and applications. Whether you need assistance with your writing style, grammar, vocabulary, or paper structure, I can use my knowledge to help you succeed. I specialize in helping clients master college essay writing, college application strategy, and standardized test preparation. Moreover, I work with students on graduate school applications, waitlist letters, and letters of continued interest. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals!
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I believe in learning through play. I have been a private tutor for elementary-aged children for 3 years. Prior to this, I taught 1st and 2nd grade English at a private school called VIVA Lingua through methods of immersion-learning. The objective of these courses was to develop a capacity of fluency and to develop reading skills through the use of role-playing games, stories, conversations, movies and other immersion activities. We honed in on writing and reading skills, allowing creativity, openness, and each of them leaving with a desire to learn more. On top of all of this, I just received my California teaching credential. Please don't hesitate to reach out for any elementary tutoring needs!
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I have over 5 years of experiencing teaching English literature, writing, and grammar at various international schools from Santa Barbara, California to Orvieto, Italy. The courses I teach now or have taught in the past include General English (B2.1, B2.3, C1.1, C1.2), Grammar and Idioms, Lyrical Analysis, Film Studies, Cambridge Exam Prep, and Fundamentals of English. I also have a TEFL Certificate (100+ hours) from Oxford Seminars.
GRE

GRE

I have taken the GRE twice; the second time, I received high enough scores to get a full ride scholarship to a Masters program at the University of Bologna.
IELTS

IELTS

As an English Instructor at EF International, I administered academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress for meeting academic learning targets in studying for the IELTS and Cambridge exams. I taught various courses: American Literature, Cambridge Exam Prep, General English (B2.1, B2.3, and C1.2), Fundamentals of English, AY Foundations, Film Studies, Vocabulary & Idioms, and Lyrical Analysis.
Literature

Literature

I graduated with a degree in English Literature and wrote my thesis on gender studies in John's Apocalypse. I designed an American Literature class and a Poetry & Music Lyrical Analysis class at EF International, the international school I worked at for over a year.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I have over 8 years of experience editing and proofreading academic essays, research papers, plays, film reviews, articles, masters theses, and many other forms of writing. Whether you need a spelling and grammar check, or you would like me to make sure it's in MLA format, I would be more than happy to edit and review your work. I am usually able to send my edits in less than 24 hours.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I currently have a 3.6 cumulative GPA in college due to study habits and skills that I have come to learn. I make flash cards, create memory games, rewrite notes, make sample worksheets, make online quizzes, re-highlight notes, etc. If I was to tutor a child in study skills, depending on their age I would choose one of these methods. I know that memory games work for all ages and are the easiest tool to help my learning.
Writing

Writing

I currently serve as the Op/Ed editor for Westmont's student newspaper publication. I am responsible for overseeing and editing each article in my section, along with adding the occasional contribution.
