Hello! I'm Lindsay. I'm a current college instructor who graduated with a Bachelors' Degree from The University of Chicago and an MFA from Art Center College of Design. In addition to teaching at College of the Redwoods right now, I am also a writing tutor there and love helping students gain the confidence to be able to communicate effectively in their written work.
In the past, I tutored students in writing at Art Center College in Pasadena, CA, as well as elementary and high school students on Big Cypress Seminole Reservation in Florida and in the Neighborhood Schools Program in Chicago. I have been a teacher and tutor for more than 10 years, and my particular strength is my ability to meet students where they are at and communicate complex information in accessible ways.
I received a perfect score on the writing portion of the GRE and am uniquely qualified to support high school and college students who are preparing for applications or testing, and/or writing papers in any discipline. However, I also have a long and successful history working with elementary school children, and love the opportunity to help young learners grasp the fundamentals of grammar and reading comprehension.
My background in academic and professional writing has given me deep understanding of composition and grammar, but it is the range of my experience with students of different ages, skill levels, and histories that makes me a great English tutor. I have helped students prepare for the TOEFL, and am just as comfortable providing enrichment for advanced students, as support for students who are struggling.
