I'm Rafael! I have limited experience tutoring but am passionate about college application writing and believe I have the firsthand experience to help! In addition to my educational background, I have a passion for helping people more broadly. I have volunteered for a handful of NGOs on issues such as education, civil rights, and international law/foreign policy.
As a politics major, nearly all of my assessments were writing-based. I leveraged my writing skills to graduate with a 3.9 GPA and was consequently elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Furthermore, I used this writing-centric skillset to produce weekly articles for the Claremont Colleges' Journal of Law and Public Policy. Among other articles, I drafted questions and interviewed the Vice President of the Philippines for the Journal's website.
I was admitted to Pomona College as a junior transfer despite the school's 7% acceptance rate, earned admission to Harvard Law School via the Junior Deferral Program without taking the LSAT, and was admitted to the University of Cambridge for my current master's program. Although every program and person is different, I can use this recent firsthand experience to help prospective students tailor their approach to the college admissions process. Specifically, I can help elucidate what specific schools or programs may be looking for, and how applicants can differentiate themselves to improve their chances of success.
