If you want to finish your college essays before senior year starts, then I’m the tutor for you. Students choose me because they want someone who can streamline the college application process in a stress free but efficient way.
I’ve been a public school English teacher for the last 14 years and have taught all grade levels from 7th to 12th grade. I hold a single subject teaching credential in English and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. For the last 10 years, I have also taught collab classes so I have experience working with students with IEPs and 504s especially students with autism and ADHD. Although I am new to Wyzant’s platform, I have experience teaching all types of students from AP/honors to regular/general education, and special education.
Most students work 1:1 with me in May/June until August, the summer between their junior and senior year. By August, all students are done with the 4 UC Personal Insight Questions and their Common App Personal Statement. Some students are also finished with their supplementals too.
My process is very simple. At our first meeting, I will get to know you and guide you through which question to pick. After, we will brainstorm potential attributes/skills to showcase to college admission officers. As we draft and edit, you will learn strategies to strengthen your writing and showcase your own unique voice. All of my students finish this daunting process with ease and confidence.
The whole process can be done 100% online. Although some students prefer to do the first meeting (brainstorming/picking out questions) in person and the drafting/writing part is moved online.
Some students are already done with their first drafts of the essays before meeting so that would expedite the process. After the completion of each essay, I will send a message to parents showing them the first draft and the final draft so that parents can also see their child’s progress.
Feel free to reach out with questions or schedule a session!
