As for math, I passed the CSET Mathematics Subtests 1 and 2 end of August 2024. My application to receive full authorization to teach Single Subject Foundational Math enables me to teach all the way up to Algebra 2. I studied over 100+ recorded hours for these exams and because they were taken fairly recently, the information is very fresh in my mind.
As for ESL, I just completed a Master's program in Linguistics/TESL (Teaching ESL). I have worked with beginners and advanced ESL learners alike. I student taught at an adult school where I gained valuable experience working with beginning English learners.
My appeal as a tutor candidate does not primarily come from the knowledge I possess but my ability to share and teach that knowledge. I strongly believe that just because you know a lot of information does not necessarily make you a good teacher. A good teacher -- or tutor, in this case -- needs to know how to simplify or adapt information to make it easy for the student(s) to understand.
Lastly, I currently work as a substitute teacher for K-12. Additionally, I have worked as a tutor in the past for various people, primarily friends and family. For friends and family, you typically want to do a great job, going above and beyond if possible. With me, I can guarantee the same level of care and attention to you or your student.
