Hi,

I offer tutoring across a wide range of subjects, including Elementary Math, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Differential Equations, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, Research Methods, Managerial Accounting, Micro- and Macroeconomics, Network Security, and programming in MATLAB. I also specialize in preparing students for standardized tests like the TEAS, ASVAB, ACT, PSAT, SAT, CBEST, and CSET Mathematics Subtests I, II, and III.
I enjoy taking tests and have developed effective strategies to tackle challenging questions. My techniques focus on improving guessing accuracy, boosting scores, and helping students gain confidence in their abilities.
I hold a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis, and an MBA in Finance from California State University, East Bay. While at UC Davis, I placed 2nd in the Undergraduate Mathematics Exam and represented the university in the Putnam International Mathematics Competition and the ACM Western Regional Programming Competition.
I homeschooled my two children through grades K–8 and supported them through high school and college. One is now a high school Calculus teacher and UC Berkeley graduate, while the other is a UC Davis Mechanical Engineering graduate working as a consulting engineer.
Professionally, I have over 25 years of experience as a software, database, and business intelligence consultant, working with companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Clorox, Wells Fargo, and Visa. I’ve held roles as a consulting manager and independent contributor, focusing on solving business problems through technology, building data warehouses, and speaking at user conferences. I also authored an exam on BrainBench.com and have earned multiple certifications from Microsoft and Hyperion.
I strive to make math approachable and help students build a solid foundation, tailoring my teaching to their learning styles to help them reach and surpass their goals.

Approved Subjects

ASVAB

ASVAB

I am skilled at explaining how to manage a standardized test such as the ASVAB. I have many years experience taking and helping others improve their standardized test scores through observational approaches to standardized questions. My skills in this area are focused on math and spatial questions.
Calculus

Calculus

Besides tutoring highschool and college students in calculus for more than 10 years, I have completed in math competition starting in 5th grade. At UC DAVIS, I was ranked #2 in the freshman class in math. I'm my sophomore year, I was selected to represent the university in the Putnam International Mathematics Competition. I placed impressively. I see the world differently and I use that ability to help students succeed.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I'm qualified to tutor both chemistry and physics having helped many students in both topics in highschool and college.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have been tutoring elementary and middle school students online for the past several years including the San Francisco Unified School District. I have been tutoring in high school and college level math for the past 12 years. I started entering math competition in 5th grade and participated in them through my senior year of highschool. At UC DAVIS, I was ranked #2 in the freshman class in math. In my sophomore year, I was selected to represent the university in the Putnam International Mathematics Competition and placed impressively. I see the world differently and I use that ability to help students succeed.
General Computer

General Computer

I have been configuring and using PC for more than 30 years. I've picked up a few things and whether it be Windows, DOS, or Unix, I can usually help.

Geometry

Besides tutoring high school students in geometry for more than 10 years, I have completed in math competition starting in 5th grade. At UC DAVIS, I was ranked #2 in the freshman class in math. In my sophomore year, I was selected to represent the university in the Putnam International Mathematics Competition. I placed impressively. I see the world differently and I use that ability to help students succeed.

Precalculus

Precalculus

I have years of experience tutoring in precalculus. I enjoy math and want to share the enjoyment with others. I at least want to make it less painful and more understandable.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I know how to take tests and can help students understand different ways of looking at problems to achieve a successful solution. Sometime, if the college allows, I recommend take the ACT exam because a good percentage of students score "higher" on the ACT version of the math for some reason. I taken competitive math tests starting in 5th grade through my sophomore year of college. Yes, some is intelligence, but a lot is just how you approach the problems. This is where I come in.
SQL

Excellent tutor!

Greg tutored my daughter and helped her get caught up with three weeks of Physics that she missed while she was ill. Then he tutored her to prepare for the ACT Math test. He is very patient and knowledgeable. He understood her particular learning style and was able to make the lessons easy for her to understand. Highly recommend him.

Greg is a good tutor because he is kind.

Greg taught me how to find the x- intercepts, y- intercept, and the vertex to problems. He also faught me how to find zeros of quadratic equations. Something I like about Greg's tutoring is that he doesn't just tell me the answer, but he gives me hints to find the solution.

Such a great tutor!

I booked a last minute Chemistry tutoring session for my high schooler and it turned out to be the best decision. Greg has found his calling! My son was able to understand his lesson and did well on his quiz.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

We had an hour and half tutor lesson with Greg. We asked random calculus questions from different chapters and he was able to help with them all. Great help and we are planning to have him in the future as well.
