My name is Christina V. I'm Greek American. I enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing by watching TV or reading, going to the gym and traveling. I graduated from Chabot College in 1999 with an AA Degree in Early Childhood education. When I graduated high school I worked at a home daycare and after college I worked at a preschool as a teacher aide.

My name is Christina V. I'm Greek American. I enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing by watching TV or reading, going to the gym and traveling. I graduated from Chabot College in 1999 with an AA Degree in Early Childhood education. When I graduated high school I worked at a home daycare and after college I worked at a preschool as a teacher aide.

During the school year of 2002, I got hired for Pittsburg Unified School district and I am currently still an employee. I have experience with Preschool- 5th grade. I've e been a 1-on-1 aide, I've worked in a SDC classroom and currently I'm a resource aide. I help students who need help with reading and math.

I'm a mother to twins, a boy and a girl who are 7 years old. I am a Greek dance instructor at my church for the elementary kids ages 5 - 11 years old and I also volunteer with teaching Sunday school. I applied to become a tutor because I want to help kids who are struggling with certain subjects in school to give them extra help that they can't receive in the classroom. I feel by being a tutor my students will succeed in their classroom and also outside their classroom.

I have been working with Elementary school kids since 2002. I am a resource aide. I can tutor Elementary Math. I can show students how to use a number like, use manipulatives, touch math and I have strategies to help students with multiplication. I also can help students in reading, comprehension and phonics. I can go over letter sounds and show students ways to find answers to comprehension questions in their reading.

My qualifications for tutoring math is that I work for the school district & I passed the aide test for reading and math both through the school district and on Wyzant. I have an AA degree. I take time to explain the math concepts to my students and how to solve the problem. For addition & subtraction, we start off by using the number line and then use hands. I give my students tricks to solving addition, subtraction, multiplication & division problems.
English

My qualifications for teaching English is I can speak English fluently. I will show my students pictures and ask them to name me the picture. I will ask them to tell me in a sentence. I will ask my students to tell me more about the picture and give me details.I will give my students topics to discuss for example what their favorite food is; what activities they enjoy; what their favorite season is? By talking in English and showing pictures my students have learned to speak English. I teach correct pronunciation of words.

I use flash cards and worksheets and we practice reading books. I always find reading worksheets that has comprehension questions. I work on writting too.
Greek

I'm qualified to be a Greek tutor because my family is Greek and I grew up speaking Greek. I know how to read and write Greek as well. I also went to Greek school at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Cathedral in Oakland from the age of 5 years old and received my Greek school diploma at 11 years old along with my Greek dictionary that I still own. My parents were both born in Greece. My dad is from Crete and my mom is from Macedonia. I also currently teach Greek Dancing at my church in Concord called St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. I feel I am qualified to teach Handwriting because I have experience with Preschoolers through 5th grade. I'm currently a teacher aide in a Special Day class. My handwriting experience that I used with students are handwriting packets and writing with a pencil grip or putting weight on a pencil to make handwriting clear or help with their muscle development. My students have also practiced writing in sand, flour and shaving cream. I also do hand over hand with those students that are just beginning to write.

I have an AA Degree in Early Childhood education. I feel I have experience with phonics because I worked as a Learning Center aide and I currently work in an SDC class. Materials that I used with phonics are alphabet/sound spelling cards, alphabet bingo for letter recognition and to practice sound. I also played word building games and also worked in leveled phonics workbooks. I also have taught and I am currently teaching leveled SRA decoding (red, purple and blue).

I have been a teacher aide with the school district since 2002. I've worked 1 on with students and I also worked in a sdc class. I worked with Autistic kids, down syndrome and a girl who was in a wheel chair. I currently work with a autistic child.

My qualifications for spelling with my students I go over each word sound by sound. We spell each word 1 letter at a time and go over the letter sound as we spell the word.

My qualifications for teaching vocabulary to kids is we play word games, I teach my students how to look up the meaning of the word, write the word in a sentence and spell the word.
