I am a foreign language teacher with a M.A. in French language, and B.A. in Spanish, and Education.

Through my studies and travels, notably in Paris (Institut Catholique de Paris), Rhône, Côte D’Azur, and Geneva, I have gained a broad perspective of French language and civilization.

I tailor your lesson according to your interests and aspirations. I introduce and explain all the essential components of mastering the French language, including pronunciation, grammar and semantics. You will understand what you learn; this makes your learning process much easier than just mere memorizing. I also lead you to discover answers and theories for yourself… you will become a lifelong learner!

My special interest is pragmatics; how to communicate in a meaningful and fruitful manner. My Master’s thesis, entitled Questions et Réponses dans Tintin, is based on pragmatic theory.

I taught French to High School students in the Credits For College program, through Coastline Community College.

I studied piano and music theory at Pirkanmaan Musikkiopisto Music Academy in the city of Tampere, Finland. For ten years I took piano lessons in the youth department. After that I studied three years at the professional level, and studied with award winning recording artist, Petteri Salminen. I have taught piano to students of all ages.

Testing

I am required, by my job, to maintain proficiency in French and to demonstrate this by regularly taking French exams in reading and listening. It was with Katri’s help that I was able to pass these exams. She is very flexible to your needs as a student and she has always been very accommodating. I am continuing my lessons with her despite having already passed my exam to continue my improvement in the language. I cannot recommend her enough.

Katri's lesson helped me with the musical phrasing because phrasing text and music must be parallel. I needed another pair of objective ears to give me confidence with the performance I am about to record. The tips about the open and closed vowels were very useful.
