With a strong foundation in biology and education, I bring a wealth of experience and passion to my role as a tutor. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Biology, complemented by undergraduate research experience, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. As a certificated teacher, I have spent the past five years teaching both years of IB Higher Level (HL) Biology, as well as freshman biology and AVID. My students consistently excel, achieving a 100% pass rate on the IB Biology exam.

Before entering the classroom, I worked as a biologist on construction projects, applying my expertise to real-world environmental challenges. This professional experience enriches my teaching, allowing me to connect biological concepts to practical applications. Additionally, I am well-versed in guiding students through the Internal Assessment (IA) process for IB Biology. Teaching IB biology has also made it very easy to tutor AP biology as well.

My approach to tutoring is centered on empowering students to overcome challenges and build confidence in their abilities. I believe that every student can succeed when provided with the right tools and guidance. To achieve this, I focus on creating an engaging, supportive environment where students feel comfortable exploring difficult topics and asking questions.

I specialize in breaking down complex biological concepts into manageable pieces, using real-world examples and proven learning strategies to make the material relatable and memorable. For students preparing for exams, I emphasize targeted practice, critical thinking, and effective study techniques tailored to their needs. Whether helping a student refine their IA project, navigate challenging coursework, or prepare for rigorous exams, I can create a deeper understanding of biology and helping students achieve their academic goals.
