Hi, I am Thomas, and I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine, and previously graduated with High honors in Chemical Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. I understand how hard it is to go through school and know what it takes to succeed in my classes. I would love to pass on that experience and help new students overcome challenges.
I have a strong foundation in math, chemistry, and physics. In high school, I got a 5 in AP Calculus and AP Chemistry. I got solid scores throughout my college classes. My study technique is first starting by deeply understanding the concept through textbooks, lectures, and youtube videos (there are so many amazing explanations). Then I start practicing problems and always reach out for help when struggling. I found my studying technique very effective in tests, especially when teachers try to twist it, making it harder.
My official experience as a teacher was when I hold a bible study class for children in grade 6 for a year. It was a class of 30 students, and every week I hold lectures, assign problems and tests at the end of the term. I always found ways coming up with ways to motivate students to learn through activities and connections. I interacted with lots of parents to update their children's well-being and progress.
Even though I did not have official teaching experience in math and sciences, I have helped a lot of my friends. I helped them with understanding concepts in class and solving homework problems. They gave me a lot of positive feedback on how I am really good at giving illustrations and examples, which helps them understand the material in a simpler and easier way. They became better and able to solve the problems on their own. They believe I can help lots of other people in this way with my teaching. I am happy to help!
