I graduated from UCSD with a Mathematics-Computer Science degree and worked as a Lead Coding Tutor for the past 2 and a half years at Code Ninjas Rancho Bernardo. My degree has given me extensive knowledge of many aspects and subjects in math and computer science/coding. My most recent job has given me plenty of experience teaching and tutoring complex subjects such as coding and math. I even got promoted from Junior to Lead Instructor very quickly at this job due to my effective teaching style and work ethic.
Many people did not succeed at my job due to them not effectively teaching and not connecting with the students as they were just giving the students answers or fixing their work for them. I make sure to take time to explain concepts further and help students understand their mistakes so that they can effectively learn from the experience. When teaching new concepts, I make sure to use words the student will understand and explain the reason why they are learning the concept or how it will be useful later. Through this job, I did tutoring in both group classroom settings with upwards of 20 students and one-on-one settings. Even before my job, I had always been a go-to tutor for my friends and acquaintances when they needed help with homework or were struggling in math or computer science. While not official work, I have been tutoring for years and am very comfortable with helping people learn and succeed in math and computer science.
