My name is Amir and I graduated in Civil Engineering with a Bachelor’s degree having worked as a math tutor since my high school and specifically after graduation. In addition to that, I have also worked part-time as a math tutor, one on one, at Saddleback College in Southern California. I have been tutoring Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, and Trigonometry for college and high school students at all levels. I have always loved mathematics and my passion for it inspires me to work as a math tutor all the time. This passion is because of the strong reasoning behind this course which is not comparable to any other courses! As long as you understand the concept, the principles, and the reasoning that the math is based on, then you can easily solve the problems without any issues, and this has become my effective method for teaching my students.
The technique I use for my students is to make them familiar with, first, the basic rules and principles of math, dependent on the subject, making sure they understand how they work and how they relate to each other, and then give them exposure to related examples, from easy ones to hard, intended to master the subject. My students have been always satisfied with my method and it works perfectly well! They are satisfied because they don’t need to memorize any formula since they are able to create them from the scratch. They wouldn’t be stressed out in the exam if they forgot anything since they know the concept and they are able to manipulate the data, given in the question, to create what is needed to get to the final answer.
In conclusion, this is my perspective on tutoring in math and I always deploy them when I work with my students to make sure they not only have a deep understanding of math to succeed in the exams but also this realization of math establishes a strong platform for their future math courses.
