Teaching has been a passion of mine since high school. It began when I became a volunteer tutor for my high school to teach english to ESL students. I was also a school subject tutor for Chemistry, Math, and Biology at Comprehensive College Prep for 1 and ½ years. In college, I created and taught public health modules in order to educate elementary school students in at-risk areas through an organization called Together Educating and Advocating Community Health (TEACH). During my last two years of undergrad, I was a Peer Learning Facilitator for UCLA’s diversity program where I was able to create lesson plans, teach, and support around 26 students each quarter in both General Chemistry and Biochemistry. Experimenting with new ways to lead learning sessions were the highlight of my week. I designed graphics to better illustrate concepts and created group activities, such as Thermodynamics Jeopardy, to make learning more enjoyable. In addition, I loved serving as a mentor for other students in my community. I believe in empowerment through education and love learning from diverse walks of life! :)

Math is not the easiest subject, but I realize that through practice and learning from mistakes rather than receiving answers is the best way to learn!

Through my varied teaching experiences, I have learned to prioritize a systematic learning plan that maximizes conversation and forces students to think about the material presented in class in a different way, rather than just giving out answers. Due to differences in individualized learning styles, I always strive to continually adjust and improve my teaching methodologies through feedback. In addition, I strive to make teaching sessions fun and collaborative for students. I love incorporating humor and I always have a smile on my face even when I’m teaching Thermodynamics (everyone’s favorite topic)!

Because I strived to learn the material well the first time around, I still retain a lot of the information from the MCAT and would love to share tips and trick

Approved Subjects

Chemistry

Chemistry

Chemistry is one of my favorite topics to teach. I have taken high school chemistry, AP chemistry, over 6 undergraduate chemistry courses at UCLA, and scored a 99% percentile on the chemistry section of my MCAT! For my last two years of college, I was also able to teach General Chemistry to fellow undergraduate students at UCLA.
Genetics

Genetics

After completing a Society and Genetics minor, I am well-versed in up-to-date scientific knowledge and ethical debate about genetics. I have written extensively about GMOs, the interaction between nature and our genome, and have completed a senior capstone project investigating the long-term effects of toxin exposure on the human genome in marginalized Vietnamese communities. This is a subject that I am extremely experienced in and would love to teach!
Psychology

Psychology

In high school, I passed AP Psychology with a score of 5. In college, I took one undergraduate Psychology course. In addition, I studied Psychology extensively for the MCAT and I scored in the 98% percentile on the Psychology section! I honestly love learning about psychology, the human mind, and sharing my tips for memorization!
