I'm Donovan! I graduated from the University of Long Beach with an Applied Mathematics B.S. in the winter of 2023. I am currently pursuing a single subject credential in math to become a teacher. I believe teaching is my calling. I was inspired to seek a major in Mathematics because of my algebra teacher in junior college. I was able to enjoy math because I realized that mathematics can be an expression like art. I love to teach and tutor because I want to inspire students how I was inspired.

I have a year tutoring in Algebra. I worked as a freelance tutor with students in my junior college who found Mathematics difficult. I held one hour sessions in the study rooms on campus. I have also tutored for calculus 1 and calulus 2. Other experience I have had was being a test grader for one of my junior college professors and giving feedback on students test to help them succeed. I have wored with high school math students as well during my fieldwork for my teaching credential.

I like to instill students with confidence and give them the tools to be persistant in problem solving. I know not every student is the same and some excel more than others. I want my students to understand that any sort of increment in mathematics is valuable and may take time. I love to be patient and help them improve even if it is little by little. I want students to not only be academically astute but also be better versions of themselves in their own lives. I believe Mathematics can help transcend that attitude.
