My name is Miss Kathy, and I am passionate about helping students unlock their potential and discover the joys of learning. There's nothing more rewarding to me than witnessing a student’s confidence grow as they master new concepts and connect their studies to meaningful experiences in their lives. I have had the privilege of working with students from diverse backgrounds and grade levels, which has shaped my flexible and compassionate teaching approach. Whether working with elementary students to build foundational skills or guiding high schoolers through advanced coursework, I aim to meet every student where they are and help them achieve success.
I hold a Master’s in Teaching from USC and dual credentials in Special Education and Single Subject Social Science and Math. I have been teaching Special Education for the past two years, and before that, I was a Middle School History teacher. I have been tutoring for the past 7 years, from essay editing for college applications to SSAT/ISEE test preparation for middle schoolers to phonics for Kindergarteners. I have done it all! My favorite subjects to tutor include reading, writing, history, and math because these areas not only empower students to express themselves creatively and critically but also open doors to understanding the world around them. My teaching philosophy is rooted in viewing each student as a unique individual, tailoring my instruction to build on their prior knowledge and nurturing their curiosity. By fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, I strive to inspire confidence, motivation, and a lifelong love of learning.
