Hi there! My name is Alexandra, and I’m glad you stumbled across my page! After tutoring for more than 8 years, I’m excited to expand my tutoring services as an official summa cum laude graduate from USC. My B.S. in Human Biology and minor in Healthcare Studies promise to come in handy for all the toughest STEM-related questions that await you. I’ve always fostered a genuine passion for these subjects and am dedicated to sharing my tips, tricks, and support to help you reach your own academic milestones. My educational background has built strong knowledge in subjects that include, but are not limited to: biology (human, general, cellular, evolutionary), chemistry (general and organic), physics (general), math (pre-algebra, algebra I/II, statistics, calculus AB/BC), anatomy, physiology, metabolism, biochemistry, and endocrinology.
My experience is expansive and always centers on a one-on-one method so I can cater to each student’s unique needs. I always reach out to students before sessions to understand how I can best support them and identify the most pressing topics to cover. We walk through problems together, but I gradually encourage students to become more independent in their approach. I often use a teach-back method, where students explain concepts to me, which allows me to identify any lingering errors or difficulties. I’m always available outside of scheduled sessions to respond to follow-up questions or assist with other work.
Throughout my tutoring career, I’ve worked with a wide age range., from 1st grade to college-aged students. With younger students, I use personal interests and analogies to keep learning fun and effective. With older students, including many AP Chemistry and AP Biology learners, I assign greater responsibility in teaching back material to reinforce deep conceptual understanding. My goal is to build both confidence and competence, which are key ingredients for meaningful academic growth. I look forward to accompanying you on your journey to achieving your educational goals!
