Hello! I'm Danny and I'd love to help you out with your Math or Computer Science studies.

I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, and have worked in the tech industry for 8+ years as a software engineer. Prior to Berkeley, I was employed as an onsite staff math tutor at Palomar College, where I was available on-demand to aid students in all levels of math, from Pre-Algebra to Differential Equations. I also worked as a private physics tutor, helping high school students prepare for their AP Physics exams.

A good tutor is patient, encouraging, and capable of explaining a concept in as many ways as is necessary. Technical fields like math and computer science can seem daunting at first, but by focusing on the "what" and the "why", the "how" can become not just intuitive, but fun.

I've always loved math, and through my engineering coursework have learned and applied math at at all levels from basic arithmetic, to algebra, to trigonometry, to calculus. While attending Palomar College, I was employed as an onsite tutor in the math lab there, available for walk-in tutoring for all levels of math. I developed great relationships with my students, and worked with many outside of the math lab in one-on-one sessions.

I've worked as a professional software engineer for over eight years, and have a deep familiarity with computer science fundamentals. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is working with junior engineers and helping to clarify concepts and move their projects along. I have extensive experience with Java, Python, Ruby, C/C++, and Javascript.

I get a true joy from helping others understand concepts that may seem difficult or overwhelming at first. I'm patient, personable, and will work with you until the problem is clearly understood and you feel confident in its answer. Let's work together!

Computer Science

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2015 with a degree in Computer Science & Engineering (EECS). I specialize in working with students taking AP Computer Science, Data Structures, and Algorithms classes. I've worked at multiple Silicon Valley companies, where I've written some combination Ruby, Javascript, Python, and Java on a daily basis. I've mentored many younger engineers, and essentially tutored them in the way our technical architecture was designed, the unique features of our system, as well as helping them learn the programming languages used in our codebase.

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2015 with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I have since worked as a senior software engineer for close to a decade at Silicon Valley start-ups of varying sizes. I specialize in working with AP Computer Science Students, many of whom are new to programming. It is very rewarding for me to help students grasp these new concepts and hone their programming skills. Learning computer science can at first be daunting or overwhelming. Let's work together to make these new ideas not only understandable, but fun and engaging.

Boosting my confidence

Danny truly shines as a tutor. He explained in an hour what I didn’t understand after hours of videos. Coding is super intimidating but Danny gives the confidence and knowledge to tackle the challenge. 100% recommend.

Helpful and patient

Very patient and won’t move on until you understand a concept. Danny will answer your questions and show you examples of how it works. Which I found extremely helpful because I learn best from examples rather than definitions. Very nice and willing to help. Would definitely recommend!

Knowledgeable and personable tutor

Danny met with my 8th grade daughter for an introductory class to guide her in CS and Math. My daughter found the lesson very helpful not only for his good coverage of the topics but also his personable and friendly approach. We are looking forward to more lessons with him going forward.

A natural talent for teaching

Danny was very knowledgeable and knew where to push me versus where to help before I became frustrated. He provides resources, is kind, very patient. One of the very best tutors I’ve ever met. (I say that as someone who has tutored on wyzant before). 100% recommend him to anyone struggling with learning to code.

The real deal

I had the pleasure of being tutored by Danny, and I couldn't be more impressed with his expertise in computer science. I needed guidance on a challenging webgoat assignment involving session hijacking, and his knowledge proved invaluable. Danny has a unique ability to explain complex concepts in multiple ways, ensuring a thorough understanding. His patience is commendable, as he took the time to clarify and ensure that I grasped the material. I highly recommend Danny as a tutor; his proficiency, teaching style, and patience make the learning experience both effective and enjoyable.
