I’m passionate about helping students unlock their full academic potential. Hello! I'm Nathan, a UCLA student majoring in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology.

I’m passionate about helping students unlock their full academic potential. I’ve tutored middle and high school students in STEM subjects and music, and I currently serve as the Lead AP Biology Tutor for Bruin Initiative, a UCLA program that supports students across Los Angeles. I also teach AP Statistics and help develop curriculum and lead weekly test prep sessions.

In high school, I took a wide range of rigorous AP and honors courses and earned the AP Scholar with Distinction Award for scoring 4s and 5s on multiple exams. At UCLA, I’ve also taken and succeeded in biology, chemistry, and calculus courses.

During tutoring sessions, I break down complex concepts into their fundamental ideas so students gain a deep understanding, and then we reinforce that learning through targeted practice and exam strategies.

I began learning violin at the age of 5, and have since played leading roles in my school orchestras, serving as concertmaster and principal violist in high school. I have performed across the state of California with ensembles such as the California Orchestra Directors Association Honors String Orchestra in San Diego under the baton of Dr. Alexander Kahn, Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra, Diablo Symphony Orchestra, two-time Grammy award-winning violinist Mads Tolling, UCLA Symphony, and Con Brio String Orchestra. Most recently, I was appointed as the Assistant Conductor of the Con Brio String Orchestra at UCLA for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. I have taught middle and high school students violin and viola privately, as well as at my high school. My teaching method emphasizes first developing correct posture and strong fundamentals. Then, I teach more advanced techniques, such as vibrato, playing in different positions, and advanced bowing techniques. My students have felt more confident in their playing skills and have gone on to advance in their seating positions in their orchestras.
