My friend recommended Wyzant to me after I mentioned I was looking for another side job while in school. Although I have personally never tutored anyone, I work with children ages 9-19 in 4-H projects and summer camps and understand how to be patient and excited as they learn. Kids are creative and sometimes need more time or a different perspective to understand different concepts, and I am more than happy to sit down and figure things out with them, all the while challenging their creativity and encouraging positive self-talk. I am a full-time college student working part time jobs to support myself and I think teaching others will be a good way to retain my knowledge and practice sharing scientific concepts to different ages!
I have studied environmental science in college since 2018. I have a strong love for the environment and the wonders of how our world operates, and I would love to share this knowledge with other students willing to learn! Most recently, I volunteered at a science camp for high schoolers where they learned about engineering and environmental science. I helped introduce projects and worked with them over two weeks to create their own research presentations. I also lead a nature workshop at a kids' weeklong summer camp, where I teach them to identify local wildlife and offer history facts.
I listed English/reading related topics as well because that has always been an easier subject for me in school, and I often proofread my fellow students' essays for free throughout middle and high school. I received a 5 on the AP Language exam and acted as a T.A. for the class when I was a senior in high school, grading and editing papers and projects for three different English classes. I like proofreading and adding notes to papers, not so I am rewriting them, but so the author can see what of their own ideas can be expanded upon.
