About Jordan

Bio

I have 20 years of tutoring and teaching experience with students from elementary school through college. I've worked one-on-one, with small groups, and in classroom and after-school settings, teaching English, writing, French, history, study skills, astronomy, math, and more. I adapt each lesson to the student's goals, strengths, and learning style, whether we are preparing for an exam, improving writing, learning a language, or developing stronger study habits. In my experience, a student's belief in their ability is the key factor to success, which is why every student I tutored improved by at least one letter grade within a semester.

I hold an M.S. in International Science and Technology Policy from The George Washington University and graduated magna cum laude with majors in Anthropology, with a focus on archaeology; International Relations, with honors; and French, as well as a minor in Creative Writing and a certificate in Political Economy. I attended Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles from kindergarten through high school, earned the French Baccalauréat with Mention Très Bien, and studied at Université Paris IV–Sorbonne. My professional work has included research, technical writing, public speaking, science communication, policy, and strategy for organizations including NASA and JPL, where my communication work received a Hermes Platinum Award.

My approach emphasizes understanding rather than memorization. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and build practical systems they can use independently. My goal is not only to help with the immediate assignment or exam, but to strengthen the confidence, communication, and problem-solving skills that support long-term success, wherever a student goes.

Whether you're looking for help mastering a specific subject, exam, academic skills, or career coaching, I'd be happy to discuss your goals and how I can help. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
