Over the past five years, I have built my career in cybersecurity with a strong focus on security operations, alert investigation, and analyst development. I currently work as a Triage Security Engineer, where I investigate alerts, assess suspicious activity, and help develop the analytical thinking used in real-world SOC environments. I also spent three years supporting the University of Utah cybersecurity boot camp as a teaching assistant, tutor, and substitute instructor. In that role, I worked directly with adult learners in classroom and one-on-one settings, helping them build practical cybersecurity knowledge, strengthen technical reasoning, and grow more confident as they prepared for careers in the field.
Teaching and mentoring are also part of my current work. I regularly mentor newer and mid-level analysts, guide investigative thinking, and support skill development in alert triage, technical reasoning, and communication. My tutoring approach is practical, supportive, and focused on real understanding rather than memorization. I adapt my teaching style to each student and aim to make complex topics easier to understand without oversimplifying them. My own path into cybersecurity was shaped by persistence, self-study, and practical experience, so I understand how difficult it can be to break into the field or figure out where to focus. I work with aspiring, early-career, and mid-career cybersecurity students and professionals who want to strengthen SOC fundamentals, improve interview performance, and build stronger investigation habits. Because tools and workflows vary across organizations, I focus on methodology, decision-making, and investigative mindset so students can apply what they learn with confidence.
