An undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh in Rhetoric and Communications with a minor in English, and a EdM from Harvard's School of Education, I have taught in K-12, Adult Education, and Community College for over 30 years in California, Pennsylvania, Arizona and online everywhere. I have worked as a Home/Hospital Instructor for many school districts. I was also contracted with the State of California in educational rehab programs for the military service personnel. I can tutor in all K-12 subjects (Math only through Algebra 2) and can tutor most General Education courses for an AA. I am certified in teaching ESL, certified in Reading Acquisition, and comfortable with providing service for most IEP special education plans. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering in my community working with animal rescues and also as a community ombudsman helping citizenry navigate the services that they need. Additionally, I teach a weekly arts and craft class at a local 55+ community.

A unique fact about me, I had the opportunity to travel in Asia and teach English both in India and Thailand.

Tremendous Tutor!

At the start, Maria was tutoring me for the SAT Reading & Writing as well as Math. Her method for approaching the multiple-choice was outstanding. She always strived to teach me the easiest way to do a math problem and would always be clear in her explanation. I am now working with Maria to edit my college essays and has tremendously helped me with the college process. She completely changed my outlook on editing and has taught me how to write better essays. I could not have found a better tutor, and without a doubt would recommend her!
