Hello! My name is Carol Y. I have a veterinary degree (VMD, U of PA) as well as graduate degrees in biochemistry and biophysics. I also minored in history and astrophysics in college (also U of PA). I was a teaching assistant for multiple biochemistry and related courses throughout graduate school, a lecturer for college level biochemistry, and I also have been an adjunct lecturer in graduate and veterinary classes. I have provided private individual tutoring for middle school though college students for a number of years. Both of my children who are finishing college now were homeschooled as we had to travel frequently. I have experience working with several online educational platforms. I am also familiar with many of the homeschool resources for K-12 students. I have also assisted students pursuing associate degrees in veterinary technology and animal sciences.
I have tutored individual students of various grade levels as well as have taught in college classrooms. I have also provided continuing education programs for professionals in the veterinary field. Every person learns best in certain ways and as such I try to find the best way to connect the student to the subject at hand. I believe it is important to know what the student's goal is and then structure learning to best enable success.
Although scientific subjects are my strongest background, I also enjoy helping students in other subjects such as history and teaching English to non-native speakers.
I would gladly work out times to be available for online sessions for tutoring and encourage those who feel they would benefit from assistance to reach out.
