Hello. My name is Elsie. I am a certified Exceptional Education teacher and have over twenty years of teaching and tutoring experience. I tutor students in grades K-8 in reading and writing. I have worked with general education students as well as severe and profound and cross-categorical exceptional education students. I believe in meeting each child at their individual level and customizing lessons to meet their needs. I try to make lessons as fun as possible since an engaged student is more likely to learn and retain information. I also encourage my students frequently, knowing that it is critical for students to believe in themselves in order be able to grow and excel.

When I retired from my teaching career, I began tutoring online. Throughout my career, I have learned many strategies for helping students with different needs and abilities. During part of my teaching career, I also tutored students after school, working with a wide range of curriculum. I have extensive experience with planning lessons using state curriculum. Your child will benefit from all my experience in the classroom and tutoring online as I constantly reflect on my tutoring to ensure each student’s needs are being met.
