About Lindsey

Bio

Hi! My name is Lindsey, and I just finished my junior year at the University of Arizona. I am pursuing a degree in Special Education with the goal of becoming a 3rd-5th grade teacher. Before starting at Wyzant, I tutored 5th and 6th graders for 1.5 years. Since starting online, I have done over 500 hours of students ranging from 2nd-8th grade. I love tutoring because I am able to build a relationship with students and encourage successful learning!

Hi! My name is Lindsey, and I just finished my junior year at the University of Arizona. I am pursuing a degree in Special Education with the goal of becoming a 3rd-5th grade teacher. Before starting at Wyzant, I tutored 5th and 6th graders for 1.5 years. Since starting online, I have done over 500 hours of students ranging from 2nd-8th grade. I love tutoring because I am able to build a relationship with students and encourage successful learning!

I have always enjoyed math and am able to pick it up quickly. I am experienced in teaching elementary, pre-algebra, and primary geometry concepts. I can break down word problems so they are easy to understand and find different approaches that are easiest for the students. I also make practice problems that are similar to problems they will encounter in homework or tests.

In language arts, I can help students in various parts of reading and writing. I have experience in teaching decoding and the importance of phonics, as well as improving reading fluency and comprehension. I also teach applying these skills in other subjects, such as science and social studies, to improve studying and recall. With writing, I provide guidelines on how to form answers using graphic organizers and sentence starters to form sentences and paragraphs.
