Kevin has spent over 25 years as a speaker, wildlife biologist, naturalist, park ranger and writer throughout the United States. As a wildlife biologist he has studied mountain lions, birds of prey, alligators, brown pelicans, bobcats and Amazon River dolphins. Kevin has given over 1,200 public presentations at the University of Arizona, California Academy of Sciences, San Diego Natural History Museum, University of Texas, Phoenix Zoo, University of Colorado, Yosemite National Park and Northern Arizona University. His audiences range from preschool to seniors and in size from ten to 600.
As a writer Kevin has published four books and over 100 articles and web pages on a variety of subjects. He is the author of Cougar: The American Lion (Northland Publishing 1992) and Bobcat: Master of Survival (Oxford University Press 2007). Kevin is an authority on the natural history and management of mountain lions and bobcats. Tutoring is another way Kevin gets to share his rich life experiences.
To pick up extra money Kevin worked part-time as an essay reader for three different high school English departments in Colorado, California and Arizona. Later he worked as a proofreader and editor for a computer software company that produced computer manuals. He also worked as a Job Skills Instructor for the Safford City-Grahm County Library, where he tutored over 600 private clients and taught classes in basic computer skills and resume writing. All of these skills were helpful in making him a successful freelance writer and tutor.
