My experience as a Spanish instructor has given me a deep appreciation for the complexities of language acquisition, which is why I bring playfulness, a sense of humor, and most of all--patience--to each class. I work with each student to bring out their individual strengths and am proud to say that my students consistently achieve, not only high test scores, but fluency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Moreover, they become invested in what they are learning and find joy in the process.

I have a lifelong passion for Spanish that stretches back to my years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica and a student in Ecuador. After completing a master’s degree in Spanish literature I began teaching and have never looked back! My teaching evaluations have consistently been excellent, and Boston College and the University of Illinois at Chicago have both given me teaching awards. At Northwestern University I taught intermediate Spanish and was a member of the Council on Language Instruction and served on both the lecturer search, and language evaluation committees for six years. At BASIS North I taught a range of ages from 7th grade Spanish, to AP Spanish, to honors English literature.
As a tutor, I specialize in Spanish and ESL.

I understand that we all have complex schedules, and I do my best to be flexible with time. While I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I am happy to schedule make-up classes.
