Hi! I’m Nick, an experienced tutor specializing in SAT and ACT preparation, math, science, and academic skill development. Over the past eight years, I’ve worked with hundreds of middle school, high school, and college students through one-on-one tutoring, small-group instruction, and test-preparation programs. I hold a Master’s degree in Biological Data Science from Arizona State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Sonoma State University. My academic background allows me to bring a strong analytical and problem-solving approach to subjects ranging from algebra and biology to SAT and ACT preparation.
As a test-prep tutor, I’ve helped students make substantial improvements on the SAT and ACT, including students who have gone on to score 1500+, with some reaching the high 1500s, as well as ACT scores in the 34–36 range. I have extensive experience teaching SAT Math and Reading & Writing, ACT Math, English, Reading, and Science, as well as middle and high school math and science. I’ve also worked with students on executive-function skills such as organization, time management, study strategies, and developing more effective approaches to learning.
My tutoring style is supportive, interactive, and highly individualized. Rather than simply showing students how to get the right answer, I want them to understand why an approach works and develop metacognitive and problem-solving strategies they can eventually use independently. I encourage students to think through problems, explain their reasoning, recognize patterns, and learn from mistakes. I also adapt my teaching to each student’s strengths, goals, and learning style. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades or test scores, but also to help them become more confident, capable, and independent learners.
