I hold an MA (University of California, Irvine) and a BA (Concordia University, Irvine, CA), both in English. My academic training emphasized composition, literary analysis, critical thinking, and advanced writing across academic and professional contexts.
My formal teaching experience includes college-level instruction in composition and professional writing, including academic, technical, and business writing, taught in classroom settings at the university level. In these roles, I worked with students on analytical writing, argumentation, organization, clarity of expression, and discipline-specific writing tasks.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have worked one-on-one with high school and college students providing individualized tutoring in writing, English, and literature. This work has focused on strengthening foundational skills, organizing complex material, and helping students develop confidence and independence in their thinking and writing. I have also worked with adult learners and professionals seeking support with business, technical, and professional writing.
My tutoring approach is structured and methodical, emphasizing how to think through writing tasks rather than simply completing assignments. I focus on clarity, logical progression of ideas, and adapting instruction to the student’s level and goals. My experience includes both short-term, skills-focused tutoring and longer-term support where consistent guidance was needed to rebuild academic habits and engagement.
Across these settings, I have taught and tutored students ranging from older adolescents through adults, in both classroom and one-on-one instructional contexts, over many years.
