Hi, I'm Scott! I recently earned my master's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder. Prior to that, I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona with majors in physics, astronomy, and mathematics, as well as a minor in computer science.

I have five years of experience helping high school and college students excel in algebra, calculus, physics, and engineering courses. My time as a teaching assistant during graduate school was absolutely the best part of earning my MS degree. I provided 1-on-1 and small group support for homework assignments during office hours, and exam review sessions during regular class time. I was so happy to see my students really understand the concepts behind some really challenging physics and engineering problems. In written reviews, one student stated, “He understood the concepts on a really deep level and was able to explain it in a manner that I would understand.” Another said, “He is the best TA of them all!”

I would love to help you strengthen your STEM problem solving skills and set you up for future success. I can assist with any middle school or high school level math, physics, engineering, or computer programming course, including algebra, geometry, precalculus, AP calculus, and AP physics. I can also help with many undergraduate math, physics, or engineering courses, including vector calculus, differential equations, and mechanics. To check if I can assist with your specific college course, please reach out. I look forward to hearing from you!

AMC (Competition math)

AMC (Competition math)

I earned 7th place in the Tucson-area MathCounts competition while in middle school. In high school, I was president of the Math Club. Our club participated in the AMC 10/12 as well as the Mandelbrot Competition.
Calculus

Calculus

I was a math major as an undergraduate, and I routinely used calculus during my aerospace engineering graduate program. I have professional experience using calculus as a remote sensing scientist. I also have 3 years of experience tutoring calculus in both 1-on-1 and small group settings.
Geometry

Geometry

My math and physics courses in college included plenty of geometry-based problems. I have helped students with geometry problems as part of my 3 years of math tutoring experience.
Physics

Physics

I majored in physics as an undergrad and focused specifically on celestial and spacecraft mechanics as a grad student. I have 3 years of experience creating simulations for a remote sensing technology company. I also have 5 years of experience tutoring both high school and college students in physics.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I earned a perfect score on the math section of the SAT, and I did similarly well on the PSAT, leading to my selection as a National Merit Scholar while I was in high school. I have helped students with the sorts of problems seen on the SAT math test during my 3 years of math tutoring experience.

One of the best physics tutors, highly recommend!

As someone who has always found physics more challenging than most subjects, I can confidently say that working with Scott has changed that for me! Now I have gained a solid understanding of the subject and even started to enjoy it! Scott takes the time to break down and explain concepts patiently and thoroughly, and allows the space for as many questions as necessary. He offers great practice problems and examples to work on to further my understanding and reinforce the material. Scott also gives great tips and techniques for approaching homework problems and exams! What truly sets Scott apart is his clear enthusiasm for physics and his dedication to making sure I truly understand the material and succeed in my class. I highly recommend Scott to anyone looking for a tutor in physics who is both skilled and committed to helping his students learn and succeed!

Friendly, Smart and very helpful.

Scott helped my son prepare for an AP Physics test. He did a great job at explaining the concepts big picture as well as guide him on finding the answers to problems he was having trouble with. Would definitely use him again.

Really understands the material

He's good at clarifying concepts as well as equations, which helps develop a deeper understanding of the material. I've definitely seen improvement in my calc 3 class!
