I hold a degree in Mathematical Science, which requires the same math courses as a certified teacher requires. For my college campus job I worked in the tutoring room where I would sit for hours and wait for struggling math students to come by. They would come in stressed out and worried, and they would leave with a feeling of relief and confidence ! They would often say
"Awwww man . . that's all it was to it ? At first I thought it was harder than that. . . until you explained it !"
When I can cause students too feel like that. I know I've done my job, it just motivates me to continue that trend.
"You know Mr. S . . . Math is kinda fun !"
I would smile and respond sarcastically like "Ah haaaa ! I thought you said you hated math . .Why the sudden change of heart?"

This leads me to the type of age group I really enjoy teaching. I have actually helped students of all ages and grades. But
middle school to high school level classes are where I really feel like I demonstrate the most skill. I have taught in classrooms both high school and middle school, as well as one on one tutoring. I have had some wonderful experiences. As long as a student is willing to learn I can teach. If a student seeks tutoring, that must mean they are interested and willing to learn and that's where I come in.
