Hi! My name is Zand. I tutor the ACT, SAT, and PSAT. I tutor Calculus, pre-Calculus, Algebra 1 & 2, High school and AP Biology, High school and AP Chemistry, English reading and writing, and Grammar. I also coach study skills and edit college application essays. I am taking a gap year from Carnegie Mellon because they cut my financial aid: I am taking this year to save to pay for my final year. I am new to Wyzant but not new to tutoring. Over the course of seven years, I have helped over 60 families reach their academic goals. I have strong college counseling experience, having guided my students to successful admissions into prestigious universities including Cornell, Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon, Dartmouth, Caltech, UC Berkeley, Babson, and Amherst College.

A little bit more about me - I am a rising senior at Carnegie Mellon University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Business Administration. I received a perfect score on the ACT (36) and the SAT math section (800). I received a 1560 on the SAT. I received 5s on 11 Advanced Placement courses, ranging from AP U.S. History to AP Calculus BC. I am highly proficient in R and RStudio. While being a teaching assistant for several finance classes, I have undertaken rigorous mathematics and statistics coursework at CMU, including Matrices and Linear Transformations, Linear Algebra, Calculus in 3D, Multivariate Analysis, Differential Equations, Probability Theory, Modern Regression, and Statistical Computing.

As a tutor, I love it when I see the face of my student who finally understands a concept they have been struggling with. It is as if a lightbulb goes off in their head; seeing this drives me everyday to be the best tutor that I can be for my students. In my tutoring approach, I center my lessons around each student's individual understanding. I think that each and every one of us has a potential to learn insightful and enriching things. Being a part of the academic and personal journey of my students has truly been a remarkable experience.
