It's important to hire someone who is familiar with the rigor of Arizona's Common Core standards. I'm a certified teacher in Arizona and Texas. I'm also a National Board Certified teacher in early childhood literacy. As a master teacher, I know how to pinpoint student's area of interest as well as change strategies or methodologies when needed.
If you're interested in Reading or Math Tutoring for PK-3
I love K-3! I have taught for over 20 years in elementary school 2-4th grades as well as a Reading Specialist K-5 and currently as a coach to teachers. I love the light bulb that goes on as students become more confident as readers, writers and spellers. This passion led me to pursue the rigorous National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. In 2012, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Childhood Literacy. I believe in using a combination of phonics with patterned, high interest books. I also mix it up with some games and IPAD applications. My goal is to develop students who will LOVE to read and write. In addition I have lots of hands on materials and games to make Math interesting and engaging.
If you're interested in SPANISH semesters 1-6:
I have an undergraduate degree in Spanish from the University of Minnesota. I have a Masters degree from ASU in Bilingual Education. I have studied abroad in Spain and I've traveled in Mexico and Guatemala. I'd love to teach basic to intermediate levels of Spanish for all age groups. I prefer to tutor students who are already enrolled in a junior high, high school or college Spanish class.
I'm now on summer vacation and my availability is fairly open. I would prefer to meet clients at the Tempe, Mesa Dobson, Mesa Public or Chandler Sunset Library or for Scottsdale students- Tempe Marketplace. I could also meet at coffee shops that are close to Tempe. I'm willing to meet clients at their homes , if the home is within a 5-10 mile area of my home in Tempe (Baseline and McClintock). I will need to meet at a public place at the first meeting.
I look forward to hearing from you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
