Hello! My name is Tara, and I am a certified Special Education teacher with 8+ years of experience supporting middle and high school students. I hold a Master of Science in Special Education from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management from Arizona State University. I am certified in Arizona in Cross-Categorical Special Education (K–12) and currently serve as a Special Education Facilitator in Phoenix. In my role, I support students with individualized education plans and help teachers implement strategies that improve student learning and engagement.
Earlier in my career, I worked directly in the classroom as a special education teacher teaching both English and Math in middle and high school settings. I have taught in alternative education programs, private day placements, and schools that provide push-in and pull-out special education services. I tutor students in Pre-Algebra, English, reading comprehension, study skills, and executive functioning. Much of my experience involves supporting students who benefit from additional structure with organization, attention, and learning strategies.
My tutoring approach focuses on helping students understand concepts clearly and build confidence in their abilities. I break down complex math problems into manageable steps, help students strengthen reading comprehension and writing skills, and teach study strategies such as organization, planning assignments, and test preparation.
