Hi! I’m Rhea, a recent graduate from Rice University with a strong academic background and a passion for teaching. I had a 3.9 GPA and extensive experience working with students in both one-on-one and small-group learning environments. Throughout my academic career, I’ve gravitated toward roles that involve explaining complex material in a clear, supportive way, whether as a private tutor or a teaching assistant. These experiences have helped me develop the patience and adaptability needed to work with students at different skill levels and learning styles.
I tutor Algebra I and II, SAT Math and Reading, and English. I have worked with middle school and high school students on homework support, exam preparation, and long-term skill building. My tutoring approach is highly personalized: I start by identifying where a student feels confused or stuck, then break concepts down step by step using clear explanations and examples. For math, I focus on building strong foundations and problem-solving strategies rather than memorization. For SAT and English, I help students improve reading comprehension, writing clarity, and test-taking strategies while reducing anxiety around timed exams.
My goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve their grades and scores, but also to build confidence and independence in their learning. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I’m always happy to provide additional practice, answer follow-up questions, and work with students and parents to set clear goals. I look forward to helping students feel more confident and successful in their academic journey.
