Bio

Hi! I'm Anna, a PhD candidate in Economics at Arizona State University with 7+ years of tutoring experience in math and economics. I bring advanced academic credentials and extensive teaching experience to help students master both subjects.

I'm pursuing my PhD in Economics at ASU, where I also earned my M.S. in Economics (2022). I was a visiting student at NYU (Spring 2025) and hold dual B.A. degrees in Economics from the New Economic School and Higher School of Economics (2021). My...

My doctoral coursework includes rigorous training in calculus, real analysis, and advanced mathematical methods alongside PhD-level microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics. I’ve received multiple academic awards recognizing excellence in economic theory and quantitative analysis.

I have 7+ years of tutoring experience from middle school through undergraduate levels, plus formal teaching roles: Instructor for Intermediate Microeconomic Theory at ASU, Teaching Assistant for Environmental Economics and Microeconomics Principles (2022–2024), and 4 years of high school teaching experience.

My approach focuses on identifying foundational gaps and building toward complex concepts through clear intuition and structured problem-solving. I contextualize problems so students see how topics connect, helping them gain lasting confidence and independence.

Subjects I specialize in:

• Microeconomics — optimization, elasticity, game theory, market structure
• Econometrics & Data Analysis (R, Stata, Python) — from regression to research-level modeling
• International Trade & Macroeconomics — gravity models, open-economy macro, policy analysis
• Mathematics for Economics — calculus, linear algebra, real analysis
• GRE Quantitative Reasoning — strategies to reach 165–170

My goal is to help students not only prepare for exams, but also appreciate the logical beauty of mathematics and economics.

Econometrics

Econometrics

I have a strong foundation in econometrics through my comprehensive graduate-level training, having completed three advanced econometrics courses as part of my PhD program at Arizona State University. My coursework has equipped me with expertise in statistical methods, regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and advanced techniques used to analyze economic data and test economic theories. I'm passionate about helping students understand how econometrics bridges the gap between economic theory and real-world data analysis, making abstract statistical concepts accessible through practical applications and clear explanations.
Environmental Science

Environmental Science

I have specialized expertise in environmental economics through my graduate-level coursework at Arizona State University and intensive training at UC Berkeley's Environmental and Energy Economics Summer School. My research focuses on critical environmental issues including transportation pollution, renewable energy transitions, and the economics of oil and gas permits. I've presented my environmental research at multiple academic conferences and seminars.
Microeconomics

Microeconomics

I have extensive experience teaching microeconomics across all levels, from my 4 years as a high school instructor to my current role as an Instructor for Intermediate Microeconomic Theory (ECN 312) at Arizona State University. With 7+ years of tutoring experience, I've successfully helped students from middle school through undergraduate levels master fundamental concepts like supply and demand, market structures, consumer theory, and producer behavior. My passion for microeconomics stems from its practical applications in everyday decision-making, and I excel at breaking down complex theoretical frameworks into intuitive, real-world examples that resonate with students at any level.
R

R

As a PhD candidate in Economics at Arizona State University, I use R daily for empirical research and econometric analysis. My work involves large-scale data cleaning, visualization, and statistical modeling for projects in trade, energy, and environmental economics. I have completed multiple graduate-level courses in econometrics, statistics, and data methods, and I teach students how to build reproducible R workflows using packages such as tidyverse, data.table, ggplot2, fixest, and sf. My teaching emphasizes the intuition behind code — helping students understand not just how to implement a function, but why it works.

Knowledgeable and helpful

I am very unfamiliar with coding in R, but Anna was able to guide me into creating multiple tables necessary for a research paper in such a short span of time that I otherwise would not have been able to likely achieve with an original topic and niche data. Went above even what I was expecting in creating 60+ slides that better explain not only the R tables themselves, but how they are important and applicable to my overarching question. Highly recommend for a successful experience!
