About Aidan

Bio

Hi, I'm Aidan! I'm an incoming freshman at UCLA. I graduated from a large uncompetitive public high school, but was accepted to UCLA, Duke, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, and Georgia Tech, among many other universities. Having just gone through college applications, testing, and interviews myself, I'm very familiar with the process. I was also selected for many scholarships, including the Flinn Scholarship, which has a less than 1% acceptance rate.

I've been a STEM student my entire life, and I've gotten 5s on AP Tests including Biology, Chemistry, Calculus BC, Physics 1, Computer Science Principles, Music Theory, US History, Government, Economics and more! I also got a 36 on my ACT and was a National Merit Finalist (PSAT). In addition, I'm an accomplished classical pianist and flautist, making it to the All-state band and performing at Carnegie Hall. I've been tutoring STEM, music, and more for the past two years. I've primarily tutored middle school and high school, in a one-on-one setting.

In addition, I also have experience with university research while in high school. I've been in two labs at Arizona State University, and am currently first authoring a paper! Most recently, I presented my research in a talk at an international conference in Palm Springs. I got into these labs with no prior experience or connections, and I know many tips and tricks on how to get involved with research.

I love helping students across all ages, but especially through high school and the college process. I was not a great writer before high school, so I know just how difficult the journey can be. Without someone to guide you, the process can be extremely overwhelming. I wished I had someone to guide me, and I hope I can be that figure for others. I've learned a lot this past year, and I'm super passionate about sharing everything I know.

Please don't hesitate to reach out, I guarantee 24 hour responses and would love to help out your student in any way possible.

Approved Subjects

ACT Reading

ACT Reading

Last year, I studied standardized English tests heavily for the ACT and SAT, and scored a perfect 36 on the ACT Reading, as well as a perfect 760 on the PSAT Reading/Writing. English tests are heavily strategy based, and I would love to share the tips and tricks I've learned to score highly without much studying or knowledge.
Biology

Biology

In addition to scoring a 5 on AP Biology, I am a first author in a botanical lab at ASU, and participate in biological fieldwork across Arizona. I have lots of experience tutoring AP Biology, and have helped many students self study to a 5.
Calculus

Calculus

I self studied AP Calculus AB and took AP Calculus BC just a few years ago, scoring a 5 on both. I've since taken Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations, earning an A in all courses. I've tutored many high school students in Calculus and am very familiar with the AP content and FRQs.
Chemistry

Chemistry

In my sophomore year, I self studied AP Chemistry and got a 5, and am very familiar with the AP Content. I have since tutored and assisted the AP Chemistry Class for 2 years. Every student has scored a 4 or above, with about half getting 5s.
College Counseling

College Counseling

I'm extremely familiar with the entire college process, having just gone through it myself. Much of my success was due to good essay writing, and knowing how to create a strong narrative throughout the application. I've helped several students get into top colleges, and have experience in every aspect, from planning extracurriculars to writing essays and even getting good letters of recommendation.
Music Theory

Music Theory

I've played piano and flute for many years at a high level, performing with all-state ensembles and even in Carnegie Hall. I've composed and arranged for many ensembles, and got a 5 on AP Music Theory, which I completed just a few years ago.
Piano

Piano

I've played classical piano and competed in competitions since a young age. I passed ASP Level 12, got a 5 on AP Music Theory, played in venues such as Carnegie Hall, and won competitions such as American Protege, EVMTA, and Jason Sipe. I've played with several ensembles including the ABODA West Region Band and Corona del Sol Orchestra, Band, and Theatre programs. For the past two years, I've been teaching piano and music theory one-on-one to middle school and high school students in the Phoenix area.
PSAT

PSAT

Two years ago, I managed to score a perfect 1520 on the PSAT through studying and practice. I've since helped a variety of types of students score high enough to recieve National Merit in Arizona. The PSAT is highly strategic, and sometimes brute studying isn't the best use of time. I would love to share all the tips and practice strategies I've learned throughout the years!
