I am a senior studying Mathematics (B.S.) at Arizona State University. I have a strong background in math and a genuine passion for helping others understand and enjoy the subject. My tutoring experience began informally, helping my peers in middle school with math assignments, as I was naturally attuned to the subject. Over time, I discovered a true love for tutoring and teaching in general. Not just by simply giving answers, but instead by helping students develop the tools necessary to tackle problems independently so that they may succeed.
Professionally, I have worked for tutoring companies as a math instructor for 2 years. Specifically, this summer I worked as a math instructor for students aged 9 to 14, teaching in small group settings of up to eight students. In this role, I followed a structured curriculum covering math material from 4th to 8th grade. I was responsible for assigning and grading homework, supporting students with their questions, and adapting explanations to each student's different learning styles. No matter who I worked with, I focused on comprehension and retention by encouraging my students to understand the material rather than just memorizing it for their upcoming quizzes.
I believe that many students who dislike math were never given the opportunity to learn it in a supportive and engaging environment. I aim to change that by introducing new ways of conceptualizing problems, making the learning more rewarding and easier for the students.
