I am Douglas M., MSN, RN, CNE, a registered nurse and nursing professor with more than 25 years of nursing experience and over 20 years of teaching experience. I hold a Master of Science in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and the National League for Nursing’s Certified Nurse Educator credential. My clinical background includes cardiac and critical care nursing, which allows me to connect nursing concepts with practical examples.

I currently teach full time at a Community College, where my courses include advanced medical-surgical nursing and online pharmacology. I have taught adult learners ranging from traditional college-age students to working professionals returning to school. My experience includes classroom instruction, online learning, clinical supervision, simulation, skills laboratories, and individualized student support. My strongest tutoring areas include medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, medication calculations, ECG interpretation, acid-base balance, fluids and electrolytes, and NCLEX-style clinical judgment.

My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and focused on understanding rather than memorization. I begin by identifying what the student understands and where the reasoning becomes difficult. I then use clear explanations, visual examples, guided calculations, and realistic patient scenarios to build understanding step by step. Through practice questions and discussion of answer rationales, I help students recognize important cues, connect concepts, and prioritize nursing care. My goal is to help students become more confident, independent learners who can explain their reasoning and apply what they know.

Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

The lectures that I commonly teach for regular course work in nursing require an in depth understanding and application of human anatomy and physiology as well as pathophysiology and disease process upon these anatomical structures and systems. I am required to have and be able to apply this knowledge in teaching in the classroom and at the bedside caring for patients on a daily basis. I hold an MSN and Certified Nurse Educator credential, with more than 25 years of nursing experience in cardiac and critical care and over 20 years of teaching experience. As a full-time community college nursing professor, I teach advanced medical-surgical nursing and online pharmacology, with additional experience in clinical instruction, simulation, and individualized student support. My areas of expertise include medication calculations, ECG interpretation, acid-base balance, fluids and electrolytes, and NCLEX-style clinical judgment. I use clear explanations, guided practice, and realistic patient scenarios to help students connect concepts, prioritize nursing care, and explain the reasoning behind their answers.
NCLEX

NCLEX

I am a master’s-prepared registered nurse and Certified Nurse Educator with over 20 years of teaching experience helping nursing students develop the knowledge and clinical judgment needed for the NCLEX. As a nursing professor, I develop NCLEX-style practice questions and patient scenarios that emphasize recognizing cues, prioritizing care, medication safety, and evaluating outcomes. I help students approach traditional and Next Generation NCLEX questions by identifying relevant information, comparing answer choices, and understanding the rationale behind each decision. My approach combines targeted content review, guided practice, and individualized feedback to strengthen clinical reasoning and test-taking confidence.
Nursing

Pharmacology

Pharmacology

I am a master’s-prepared registered nurse and Certified Nurse Educator with over 20 years of teaching experience, with 8 years including teaching online and in person pharmacology courses at a community college. My cardiac and critical care background helps me connect medication mechanisms of action with therapeutic effects, adverse reactions, contraindications, and nursing assessments. I help students understand medication classes, recognize clinically significant interactions, and perform dosage and IV infusion calculations using dimensional analysis or formula-based methods. Through patient scenarios and guided practice, I emphasize understanding why a medication is given, determining whether it is safe to administer, and evaluating the patient’s response.

Very knowledgeable and helpful

Douglas and I covered EKG rhythms, sinus rhythms, AV Blocks and associated causes and treatments. We also covered pancreatitis. We covered how to prioritize assessment information, clinical findings and use of clinical judgement model." He is an amazing tutor. He knows exactly how to break the topics down so that they’re understandable and easy to remember I would give him 100 stars. I definitely recommend him and plan on using his services again!!!!!
