Hi. I have 9 years of educational teaching and tutoring as a Reading and Math Interventions type of setting for middle school students. I began my career as a substitute teacher during my first year for the elementary and middle school here in my hometown.
My second year I was offered to work as a Long Term Substitute Teacher for the middle school as a 7th grade Reading teacher to which I successfully completed that whole year and I enjoyed it. I learned how to create lesson plans and teach my students successfully in the reading area. During this year I also did after school reading interventions (tutorials).
My 3rd year I was offered to take another Long Term Substitute teaching position until the new teacher arrived for 1 semester in 8th grade Science.
The 2nd semester of that school year I finished the year as a long term substitute for the art class. I continued to do after school reading interventions this year a well.
My 4th year I took a permament position with the school district and worked for the middle school as a full time Reading Interventionist and I was able to assist 6,7,8th grade students throughout the day solely in reading. I also did afterschool tutorials this year as well. I did this for the remaining 3 years. I loved every moment of teaching my students in group settings. Reading is my passion as I over came childhood obstacles of my past when I struggled in school through reading. I was able to teach students tasks of how to over cone the struggles of reading and comprehension.
My next 2 years was spent in working as a Paraprofessional in the High School level with disabled students. I currently work with the High School and I really enjoy this position I am in now. I have a deeper understanding and better knowledge of assisting students of special needs as I help them through all their lessons throughout the whole day.
