Developing a Passion for Golf

I have been a Physical Education teacher for many years as well as a High School Golf Coach for over 15 years. I work with students from 4th grade through high school as well as women who are interested in the sport. My passion is to teach the student how to learn, how to manage what they learn and how to help themselves on the course.

Texas State Champion Golf Coach--Girl's Varsity and Boys Varsity teams. Girls were triple State Champions and participated at that level five years in a row. Boy's team went one time.

I am a single digit handicap, so I know golf very well but I truly pride myself in building a passion in my student for the game. Teaching the student to have small successes that lead to bigger successes (stepping stones), teaching the student how to think on the course, how to manage the course which all eventually leads to becoming a good player and developing a love for the sport and having fun. Each student learns at a different level and this game requires patience. Having taught physical education for so long, my vocabulary, my expectations, my assessments are all based on age appropriate drills and explanations.

Golf is the greatest game there is, as it is the player versus themselves! It can be competitive against other players, but it comes down to how you think. That is what makes this game so great. Golf not only teaches strategies, it teaches humbleness, successes/failures and how to build upon each, integrity, honesty, etc! All girls should be learning golf as there are so many scholarships that go unclaimed, golf is a great tool in business as well as socially.
