I have 20+ years of experience tutoring elementary through graduate school students in a variety of different subjects. I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of students to achieve their academic goals while building confidence. I believe that it is important to customize the learning experience by adapting my teaching style to accommodate the student’s learning style to maximize effectiveness.

Areas of expertise include the natural sciences, social sciences, math, statistics, research methods, study/organizational skills, essay writing, and test preparation.

My teaching style focuses on being a facilitator, mentor, coach, and guide to stimulate an interactive learning environment. For a successful learning experience, the student needs to be an active participant with the tutor providing instruction, guidance, and support. I strive to promote a positive learning experience, build rapport, stimulate enthusiasm, and achieve academic goals. This approach has proven to be effective in increasing understanding, confidence, motivation, and independence resulting in the improvement of grades.

High school and college students have the need for more comprehensive understanding of concepts and their applications. There are many strategies that can be used such as breaking down the concept and showing how the parts relate to each other or using real life examples.

I enjoy tutoring elementary and middle school students reading comprehension, writing, math, and the sciences. I believe that this is the time to develop a strong foundation for future learning which will help sustain a high level of confidence, build self-esteem, and autonomy. I work to show this age group that learning can be fun by using a variety of different activities and resources.
