Hello! Nice to meet you! My name is Alisha E. Teaching is my passion! When I see the looks on my students faces when they achieve academic success it makes me so proud! I am very much a people person which helps me reach all the students I teach, whether adult or child.
I am an Arizona Certified teacher with a valid fingerprint clearance card. I grew up and went to high school in the Philadelphia area and then attended the University of Arizona where I earned a degree in Political Science. I earned my Master's degree in Education Leadership and Administration at Northern Arizona University. After spending 11 years teaching in Paradise Valley Unified School District, it was time for a change so now I am now a full time tutor.
My experience as a teacher was not solely in the classroom. I have spent 10 years tutoring home bound students for the school district in a wide range of subjects, but focused mainly on math. (I tutor up through Algebra 3-4 and Geometry. I can tutor most subjects through the high school level aside from foreign languages and sciences.) In addition as a teacher, I was a leader on my campus as part of our leadership team and Student Council Adviser.
My philosophy as a tutor is to work with the student one on one and to connect with him or her. As a middle school teacher, by doing this, I was the fun, popular teacher on campus. My performance evaluations say that, and I have thousands of former students who would say that as well, but most importantly I get results!
I would love to help you out! Contact me now so I can help YOU achieve SUCCESS!

Excellent Tutor, goes above and beyond her lessons, and she cares!
Recently, she had a tutoring session with my son and recognized that he needs additional practice in certain areas. So, instead of just simply suggesting that, she emailed the problems after class to make sure my son goes over them the same day in order to hold down the material. That goes along way to success!
Alisha's background in education and experience with students allows her to quickly formulate a plan for success. She then teaches and guides the student on how to critically think and independently study to take the stress out of learning and make it fun!
Alisha has an excellent grasp of subject content. She is patient and connects well with my child. I highly recommend her.
She is very personable and friendly. My daughter truly liked her and her timely arrival and flexible schedule means a lot when we have such a booked summer schedule. We look forward to Abby gaining lots of confidence on her math skills for next year (7th grade).
Alisha is always pleasant to work with and really makes an effort to make her schedule work even if its at the last minute.
Alisha worked with my daughter in square roots, triangle and other. Alisha is an excellent tutor. My daughter is improving and learning the concepts and problem solving.
Alisha has helped our daughter with 7th grade Algebra. Our daughter uses her time with her reviewing concepts she didn't fully grasp in class, and preparing for tests.
Alisha was the first tutor able to explain things to my daughter in a way that she understood. Thank you!!
My daughter enjoyed the friendliness and patience that exuded from Alisha. I am a teacher myself so this is high praise indeed. She is thorough and explains the topic step by step.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
